The Blackout Party

Last Saturday I had a little trip down to Basingstoke to attend The Blackout Party, a 1940's themed night held in the beautiful Milestones Museum.

If you don't know about this museum it's all set out like a film set with old fashioned streets and shops. There is even a Tram and tracks inside!

The bill for the night was Burlesque dancers, singers, vintage stalls and of course dancing!

Here's what I wore and a few snaps from the night.

Dress - Fearne Cotton for Very.com
Clutch - Vintage, circa 1947 (Given to me by my friends mother)
Shoes - New Look

I met the lovely Charlotte and her husband Christoper, who look absolutely gorgeous!

Charlotte was wearing a original 1940's dress and handmade hat and Christoper a 1940's Pilot's uniform with original trimmings.
Lisa looking as fabulous as ever in her ASOS.com tea dress and pearls
 Frankii Wilde

We had a wonderful night and for the first time experienced Electro Swing, which I think for now is quite fast for my little feet

Friday Night Dancing

Recognise this dress? It's my Tara Starlet birthday dress I bought for my 30th birthday last year.

This charming dress has sadly sat in the wardrobe for over a year unworn, so Friday night I freed its soul and took her dancing at the Essex Vintage weekender. This dress was made for dancing after all!

I rolled up my hair, with practise I am getting better.

I have been learning to Jive and Lindy Hop on and off for a year or so, sadly with work commintments I missed classes over the summer but back to class now. This is how my dancing is coming along.

News Flash!

Have you heard...... Topshop's now providing a click and collect store service!

This excites me greatly, you can't imagine how many times I've wanted to buy something silly online that I can't get in store yet don't as the delivery cost matches the product price.
Well now those days are over as on Friday Topshop launched their click and collect service. Purchase as you normally would online, then select store delivery....simples!

Delivery to store is free of charge and next day delivery is only £2.00. What clever devils those folks at Topshop are to launch this just before Christmas.

We all love a Sailor

Ahoy there me hearties!

Through my full time job I was lucky enough to be invited to the 2012 World Sailor Awards held in Dublin.
Those who follow me on Instagram will have seen my stream of pictures from Ireland last week. Don't follow me on there... why not? Just search urbanbutterfly to find me.

This is prestigious award ceremony that for the first time was aired on television this year....I'm famous... Okay maybe not, but I did get to meet a string of International Olympians one of which was our best ever Olympic Sailor Ben Ainslie; sadly the host the King of Greece was too busy to receive me! :)

Here's what I wore, sorry about the quality of the pictures but I was only armed with my phone and had to take super quick snaps when the ladies room was vacant.

Dress - Love at Topshop
Belt - ASOS.com

Some of you may know that I have been waiting for my tattoo appointment for quite a few months so when woke up I was super excited and also a little nervous as I couldn't remember if I found my previous one that painful?
I had this inked on my thigh a few years back, but I grew bored of it as I felt it just sat there with no real va va voom. Now I love all things peacock and henna and equally for years have been saving tattoo inspiration pictures of both.

So this is what I had started today, it's only half complete as it will end up as a half leg piece. I was offered a five hour appointment but I'm a terrible fidget and struggled with keeping still for even twenty minutes!
I had a three hour sitting and think I will still need around three more hours.
My next appointment will be to have the feathers shaded / pattern added, his tail feathers added and lots more henna style flowers and shapes added around to make it more of an overall piece.

Bed all set for me to hop on and get inked!

All stencilled on and ready to go

Adding in the outline

Taking a break, flowers and henna shape has been hand drawn on

After 3 hours!

As you can see there is a lot left to do and my exsiting flower has started to be cleverly hidden in with the over all new design.

I will keep you updated as more is added and it starts to take shape.

So all I need now is a name for him! Sugguestions?
